Yesterday, I was resting at home. It was almost 11 o'clock at night when I received a phone call. In that instant, as I turned around, a sudden pain shot through my lower back.
At first, I thought it was because I had strained my back while moving things yesterday. However, the pain became increasingly intense, and even applying red flower oil had no effect. I began to suspect if my lumbar disc had protruded and irritated a nerve.
The pain came in waves, and I felt helpless and restless. I immediately contacted my wife who was out, and just as we were having a voice call, I started vomiting. The pain was uncontrollable, so I decided to go to the emergency department.
My wife quickly returned home and took me to the central hospital's emergency department. The doctor gave me a painkiller injection first, and then I underwent a CT scan and urine test.
The injection slightly relieved some of the pain, but before the CT scan, I had to hold my urine. I drank a lot of water, but ended up vomiting it all out, so I could only slowly sip water.
Finally, when I felt the urge to urinate, the doctor performed a CT scan on me, and the results showed that I had bilateral kidney stones. One of them, with a diameter of 0.6 cm, was descending, causing spasms. The doctor only prescribed painkillers and told me to go home and wait for the stone to pass naturally.
After researching, I found that the pain level of kidney stones can reach as high as 11, second only to the pain of childbirth. I had only heard that it was very painful before, but only after experiencing it myself could I truly understand how painful it is.
One of the ways I alleviate the pain is by using the tips of my toes as a point of leverage, lifting my heels and shaking my whole body, in order to help the stone pass through the narrow passage as quickly as possible. I am also trying herbal remedies, hoping to expel the stone as soon as possible, as I do not want to experience this level 11 pain again.
